Volunteer

If you would like to find out about being a volunteer please contact us with your details and and we will get back to you. We also have specific situations vacant from time to time that we have listed further down the page.

We also invite comments and suggestion from our listeners. Subjects for inclusion in the quarterly INSIGHT Magazine are particularly welcome - all the more so if you, as a listener, can be part of the feature. We have portable recording equipment which means we can come to you. If you have an idea - why not contact us and let us know?

Office Support Volunteers

We are looking for more volunteers for around 2 hours every two weeks in the studio office at St. Richard’s Hospital in Chichester. The work involves sending out and receiving back the memory sticks containing the news recordings, and handling telephone enquiries from listeners. To find out more check please email studio@catn.org.uk or call our office on 01243 775050 and leave your contact details.

The Admin Team

The Admin Team is responsible for keeping track of our listeners, registering new listeners and removing the names of those who no longer require our service. Ideally, we need three people in the team so that the work can be spread. Office Manager Helen Pinn explains: "We need someone flexible on a Thursday or Wednesday during the day. If there are three of us, then we work two together at a time, so one of us has every 3rd week off, subject to the availability of the other two, which is why we need someone flexible. You will need to be computer literate - some experience of Access database and Excel spreadsheets would be wonderful!" So, if you think you would like to volunteer in this team, or perhaps you know of someone who could help us, please contact Helen at the CATN office by emailing studio@catn.org.uk or her personal email helenrpinn@gmail.com

Recording Engineer Required

We are looking for an additional Recording Engineer to join our team of volunteers. Experience is not necessary, as full training will be given.

We record fortnightly at 5.30 pm on a Thursday evening and are usually finished by around 7.30 to 8.00pm. We have a state-of-the-art studio on the St Richard's Hospital campus and make a digital recording that has to be edited and prepared for the copiers who will make the 300+ copies to be sent out to our listeners that same evening.

We have three recording teams who work with a producer so engineers are usually called in to record once every six weeks. We also record a magazine programme every quarter.

If you would like to be part of a friendly, hard-working team of volunteers please give us a call on 01243 775050.
